Meaning of Diwali
Diwali, the Festival of Lights, is an annual South Asian festival held during October or November, according to the lunar calendar. Around the world, Diwali celebrates the triumph of truth, light and goodness over darkness and evil.
The word Diwali comes from the Sanskrit word Deepawali ‘deep’ means ‘light’ and ‘awali’ means ‘a row’.
Diwali has various interpretations significant to different regions and populations of South Asian origin. Hindus, Jains and Sikhs all celebrate at the time of Diwali.
In the spirit of Diwali, we invite everyone in our community to celebrate in support of our hospital’s Regional Stroke and Neurosurgical Program by reserving your seat today.
